I am pretty sure I get what you are say...@AK Blogs,
I am pretty sure I get what you are saying and certainly share the frustration. But we as Christians have made too many compromises and then claim it bothers us. I am not one for uproarious protests but if something on TV bothers us, we can avoid it. How many Christians watch Entertainment Tonight or buy People Magazine. What is that? Gossip. But we don't speak out against it. What about greed? Never talked about.
All we can do is show Christ's love in word and action. AS 1 Peter 3:15 says, "But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect."UTKevDawghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00672491105794479482noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-68998351428921359.post-4600148013858012802009-04-14T00:08:00.000-04:002009-04-14T00:08:00.000-04:00JMS - KLock - I agree with the both of you.
Howev...JMS - KLock - I agree with the both of you.

However, what are we to do with this moral decline in our country? Now, I am not saying that everything was peachy clean 50 years ago. But, what I am saying is that there are things done in said in media today that would not have been fathomable 50 years ago. As a believer it makes you sick to your stomach. Are we to continue to let entertainment do this? If we call it immoral, what right do we have to call it immoral? Do you all get what I am trying to get at here?AK Blogshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10240574116825289060noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-68998351428921359.post-551353104139135932009-04-08T16:41:00.000-04:002009-04-08T16:41:00.000-04:00I couldn't agree with you more, Kevin. The Church...I couldn't agree with you more, Kevin. The Church is always the healthiest and the faith always the most vibrant in places where Christianity is not seen as the default religion (China, India, Sub-Saharan Africa, etc.).

Also, the idea that America is a "Christian Nation" or that the Founding Fathers were Bible-believing Christians is a myth that the Religious Right have used for decades to motivate people to reclaim the "good ol' days" (which, incidentally were only 'good' if you were white, preferably male as well!). But as both Greg Boyd ("The Myth of a Christian Nation") and Roger Olsen ("How to be Evangelical without being Conservative") have shown in their respective books, this is a form of naivete at best...and idolatry at worst.

Which is why I throw up in my mouth a little bit whenever I hear people saying how we need to "take back America" or "put Jesus back in the schools"...as if Jesus has gone anywhere or America is any less under God's sovereign rule.JMShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04764107457421094503noreply@blogger.com
